Open Customer Credit
The open customer credit alert notifies you if there are any unallocated customer credit notes on a clients accounts receivable.
An open customer credit should be allocated against a sales invoice to reduce the amount of money to be paid to the customer. If there are no open sales invoices or you are no longer selling to this customer you will need to make arrangements with them to return the money as this is cash that is due back to the business.
Depending on the balance of any open customer credits you may wish to make a provision for this in your cashflow forecast. Whilst it may be company policy not to return this money unless chased a large amount chased may have a detrimental effect on cashflow so it is important to flag this up and plan for the cash outflow.
Lots of credits against a single customer may indicate an issue with the sales/supply process with that customer and could warrant further investigation.
Once you have dealt with any open customer credits you can hit the complete button to notify Hindsight that the alert has been taken care off.
